Guests - Next, decide how many you can comfortably
entertain. Make a “rough draft” list of family and friends that you
would enjoy having in your home. Think about how you feel about a
large gathering versus a party that is smaller and more intimate.
One of the myths that many people share is that the number of guests
is directly proportionate to the work involved. Don’t be fooled by
this opinion. If you can plan a party for 5-10 people, you can plan
a party for 50, almost as easily. After all, you are cooking anyway
– the quantities are just increased.
The size of your home and yard will help dictate
numbers, but do not let this rule your decision totally. A friend of
mine has a relatively small home, but she boasts gala parties from
50-100 people, by opening her yard and her home to guests
simultaneously. Both large and small groups have their delightful
advantages. It is totally up to you what you choose to do.
